Imre Kemecsey has published a set of Relaxation and Mental Training exercises designed to help the Kayak paddler to integrate the Power Circle techniques.  These techniques and the exercises are equally applicable to the surfski and also have much to offer any paddling discipline.

The exercises, like any other exercise MUST be practiced to be effective. They are available in the Download section of this website under the folder Imre Kemecsey.

The exercises are fashioned after Autogenic training; which is a relaxation technique developed by the German psychiatrist Johannes Schultz and first published in 1932. The technique involves the daily practice of sessions that last around 15 minutes, usually in the morning, at lunch time, and in the evening. During each session, the practitioner will repeat a set of visualisations that induce a state of relaxation.

Schultz emphasized parallels to techniques in yoga and meditation. It is a method for influencing one's autonomic nervous system. There are many parallels to progressive relaxation.
